Why a dedicated aluminium page?
Use this landing page for 6061 plate, extruded bar, 7075 tooling plate and general aluminium sheet. Switch the alloy in the calculator if you are quoting 7075 versus 6061 — the 4% density difference shows up on large billets.
Formula
6061 plate 12 mm × 500 mm × 500 mm
Alloys on this page
- Aluminium — 2.7 g/cm³. Commercially pure / general aluminium, ~2.70 g/cm³.
- Aluminium 6061 — 2.7 g/cm³. The most common structural aluminium alloy.
- Aluminium 7075 — 2.81 g/cm³. Zinc-alloyed aerospace grade; a little denser than 6061.
Cast aluminium can sit nearer 2.65–2.70 g/cm³. Anodising is negligible for weight. If the stock is tread plate or has a heavy mill finish, add a small allowance.
