- Nothing is uploaded — the file stays on your device
How to export a 2D DXF from a STEP file
- Choose a .STEP, .STP, .STE, .IGES or .IGS file from Files or Downloads.
- Wait until the solid is on screen. Nothing is uploaded.
- Choose 2D projection export.
- Choose Third angle or First angle. The sheet shows the views of the parts still on screen.
- Choose Open in 2D CAD. The drawing opens in place. Download DXF saves the same file.
- Turn on Measure. Length is two points. Diameter and radius read a circle or an arc. Angle is two straight lines.
Third angle places the top view above the front view, and the left view on the left. First angle places the top view below the front view, and the left view on the right. An exact circle, arc, or ellipse stays that curve. A straight edge stays one line. An edge behind another surface is a hidden line. The DXF is in millimetres.
Ten DXF exports are free in this browser and on this network. This page and the CAD Viewer share that count. The next export asks for a 3-day trial or a subscription. The trial is once. It does not add converter files. A subscription includes the export for the whole term. Opening a file to look at it does not count. Measure, colour, the plain wireframe, and PNG stay free.
This page makes a flat drawing. The CAD Converter writes STEP, IGES, or the exact 3D edges as DXF. It does not place front, top and side views. The STEP file weight calculator reads the mass. Use this page when the shop needs a 2D DXF.
